AMIGO out of competition

8 July 2011

All hope has gone, the team is very down at the moment. AMIGO started his last challenge, the Go Get It, of the day remarkable well. But soon after, he hit an object which is not allowed. This meant the end of the competion for the @Home team.

During the Go Get It challenge the robot must drive to a location and find, recognize and pick up items. This location and the objects he should find are told to him by the judge. Points can be won by driving to the right location, finding and recognizing points and picking up these items. Points are deducted for touching objects within the arena.

Although the team had high expectations, it also new that small objects on the floor could not be detected by AMIGO. Fait decided that the judges would place a candle on the floor in the room where AMIGO was supposed to move to...

Although the competition is over for AMIGO, the experience gained this week will provide for enough work for the team. They will still be able to do some research and development. Next year we will certainly be back at the WC.
