Next week RoboCup 2021!

16 June 2021

On the 26th and 27th of June our soccer robots can play again, but this year it will look different than other years. We are not going to play soccer matches against each other, but we will compete in the Technical Challenge and the Scientific Challenge. These challenges were already a part of the tournament in previous years. Our soccer robots have won the Technical Challenge 1x before, and the Scientific Challenge even 7x! Hopefully we can also show some nice new developments this year!

Technical Challenge (June 26)
The technical challenge is composed of two components. The first part is the demonstration of a new concept. Within a time frame of 10 minutes, teams demonstrate a solution which contributes towards the goal of winning from the human world champions in 2050. Although presentations are allowed for explaining the approach, the focus of the Technical Challenge will be on demonstrating the concept. A jury will then grant points for this.
The second part is about the logging of match data. Teams will be granted points on how much RoboCup match data they logged compared to the amount of matches they played since the last Technical Challenge.
Scientific Challenge (June 27)
In this challenge teams are free to show one significant achievement each, and all the other team leaders from teams participating in this challenge will evaluate them. The achievement will be judged among other on how innovative and complex it is, how relevant it is and what contribution it has on the RoboCup competition. Also, teams can gain extra points with their qualification for the tournament.
