Last weekend was RoboCup Worldwide! The online variant of the world championship robot soccer. Unfortunately, we could not go to Bordeaux this year, so we brought the French atmosphere to Eindhoven. Read here how it went!
Technical Challenge
We got the 1st place at the Technical Challenge! During this challengeall the teams could show what new developments they did this year. We presented our progress with "OpenPose". This means that we worked on the recognition of the pose of humans by the robots. With this, we can for example ask a ball from a robot with a hand signal, or let the robots predict where a human opponent will shoot.

Scientific Challenge
At the Scientific Challenge we ended at the 2nd place! Just below VDL RobotSports. Our goal for the challenge was to let the soccer robots shoot more unpredictable shots, by a new mechanism that can give a curve effect to the ball. By giving a spin to a ball, it will deviate from its original path and bounce in a different direction. We have developed and tested a mechanism that can achieve the desired effect. The newest challenge is now to implement this mechanism in our robots!
