Today, the 17th of July, the RoboCup event was open for the first time for visitors. During this day, there was an opening ceremony as well as the first day of the science festival. For the MSL team, three practice matches where planned, and the @Home team was busy with testing with the HERO robot.
The first practice match of MSL could not go through because of the opponent not being ready to play. Instead of having robot opponents, the Tech United robots played against humans from the team. The second match was played against BigHeroX, which they won with a score of 3 against 1. During this match there were some troubles with robot 3, Van der Tandwiel, but this did not stop them from winning!
The third planned match unfortunately could also not go through. Despite this, it was a productive day in which some final tweaks have been made in order to show their best at the official matches tomorrow, that do count towards the championship leaderboard.
Furthermore, the @Home team was preparing to make sure they get as many points as possible in the challenges of tomorrow. The day will start in the morning with the “carry my luggage”- challenge, followed by the “receptionist”- and “storing groceries”- challenges in the afternoon. The preliminary schedule can be found on the “tournaments” heading on the website, as well as on the social media channels of TechUnited.
The evening ended with the presentation of the scientific challenge. Here, new ideas for the Mini Cheetah were presented. Furthermore, the results of the technical challenge came in and TechUnited won by scoring 98.82 points, closely followed by the Falcons with a score of 97.87.
