The summer sun is shining, and with a delightful 29 degrees, it finally feels like summer has begun. But for the Tech United team, there's no time to relax. On day 5, we continue tirelessly. And with success: today, we've secured three victories in the Middle Size League, and our @Home team has successfully tackled some challenging tasks with determination. The Volkskrant has published a report. According to this article, it is precisely the team's dedication that drives their success.
The Volkskrant has published an extensive report with the headline: "After a pass from 'Wielema,' 'Robodinho' will make the Netherlands world champion on Sunday." This is putting some pressure on Tech United, but our MSL team's dedication remains unwavering. The article highlights the relentless effort of our MSL team: "What absolutely contributes to Tech United's success is the unwavering dedication of our students to make the robots smarter and faster." Humble as always, Ruben Beumer responds: "We can't just assume we'll win because we've won in previous years." Others, are full of confidence, like Rene van de Molengraft, who has never been more self-assured. If it is up to him, Tech United is ready to take on the world!
The first match against the Falcons kicked off at 9:00 a.m. An exciting battle unfolded between two powerful teams. Tech United went into halftime with a comfortable 4-0 lead. However, when Van der Perslucht had to leave the field, the Falcons briefly played with an advantage of 4 against 3. Nevertheless, Tech United held their ground and scored five more times. The final score of 9-0 was convincing, but what a speed duel against the Falcons!
Our @Home team had their work cut out today to maintain their second-place position. After some struggles in the "Serve Breakfast" challenge, HERO also needed a second chance in the next challenge. Given the complexity of the tasks, @Home's chances were far from over, especially since the competition faced their own difficulties.
VDL Robot Sports started the next match strong with a quick first goal. Our team didn't back down and quickly sought revenge. Unfortunately, Wi-Fi disruptions caused data loss and limited communication between the Tech United robots after halftime. The second half was literally a bumpy ride, but we still secured a 3-1 victory in the end!
And then that last MSL match, wow! The 5-3 victory sounds like a beautiful triumph, but let me tell you, it was hard-fought. After some delay, both teams gradually found their rhythm in the first half. BigHeroX kicked off with 3 robots, while Tech United had 4 robots ready to go. And even with this physical advantage, the tension remained high. In fact, the first goals were evenly matched. In short, if we face BigHeroX again later in the tournament, we still have some work to do.
@Home ended the day a spot lower in the pool: 4th place, only 25 points behind the third place. Not a bad result considering the challenges they encountered today with the General Purposes and Clean the Table challenges.
Today, both Tech United teams had to put in a little extra effort for the results, and fortunately, it paid off. Let's see what tomorrow has in store for us!
The MSL matches tomorrow are as follows: 11:30 AM against LAR (Portugal), and 2:00 PM once again against BigHeroX. @Home will participate in 3 challenges throughout the day. In the morning, there’s the restaurant challenge, followed by “Stickler for the Rules,” and finally, the “Enhanced General Purpose” challenge.
See you tomorrow!
