The final day of the tournament has arrived. The moment of truth. The moment all aspects should come together. The moment everybody worked that hard for the past few days. @Home has to compete against the same oppenent as they did in 2019 during the final and MSL has to compete against the Falcons from who they lost the last match during the last round robin due to some bugs. It will be a tense day!
@Home
For @Home the final is against team TidyBoy, the team form the Seoul National University. In 2019 the final was also against TidyBoy. TidyBoy did great during quite some challenges this tournament. Especially, the 'Smoothie Maker'-Challenge impressed everyone watching; without any trouble the robot of team TidyBoy was able to put the right objects in the bowl and finally smoothly pouring milk in it. So a formidable opponent!
In the final Tech United started with a small advantage since they scored more points in the first two stages. Team TidyBoy showed their skills to manipulate and smoothly pick up an orange, a peach and a plate. Finally they guided their teammate to another room. Afterwards, it was our turn. We showed how HERO could detect a moving object and how it can communicate over Telegram to ask a neighbor for help when someone is in need. The moving object did not work as well as we wanted but the rest went great! And finally, after almost an hour of waiting we heard that we won!!!
MSL
For the soccer robots the final is against the Falcons. A game in which at forehand Tech United would be the favorite. However, as seen in the round robin Tech United could not afford any little mistake or bug against the Falcons. To prevent this, code was tested until late last night and should work as wanted.
The final went of with a good start in favor of Tech United. The late night testing yesterday payed off, as the first goal was scored within the first four minutes of the match. We were able to recover the ball several times after the Falcons managed to grab it from us, van Veerenstaal managed to stop some shots at goal by the Falcons, Groenestroom showed us a nice human dribble, and the robots showed a fine piece of teamplay. After an exciting 45 minutes the final score was 15-0! In addition, we managed to score 2 goals in the competition with the trustees that followed right after the final. The end score was 2-3.
Fun facts:
-Lieke Motors was our top-scorer in the finals
-All robtos together drove a total distance of 100 km this tournament
-The maximum speed that was obtained by the robots was 15 km/h
